1. Introduction

Welcome to Eli5a, operated by an independent owner based in Switzerland (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using eli5a.com (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”).
If you do not agree, you must not use Eli5a.

2. Eligibility

Eli5a is intended for users aged 16 years or older. By using the Platform, you confirm that you meet this requirement and are legally capable of entering into this agreement.

3. Services Overview

Eli5a is a platform that simplifies and analyzes scientific research using artificial intelligence.
Users can access various tiers of service:

  • Free Tier: Basic access with limited usage.

  • Membership Tier: Extended access and priority processing.

  • Pro Tier: Advanced functionality and expanded access to research tools.

We may modify or discontinue features at any time without prior notice, provided that paid users are notified of material changes.

4. Accounts and Security

You must create an account to use Eli5a’s personalized services. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and all activities under your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts involved in misuse, abuse, or violations of these Terms.

5. Payments and Subscriptions

Eli5a offers both monthly and annual subscription options. Payments are processed securely through Stripe.

  • All charges are non-refundable.

  • Cancellations take effect at the end of your billing cycle.

  • Access will terminate automatically when your plan expires or is canceled.

  • We may adjust prices or plans; changes will be communicated in advance.

If you fail to make timely payment, your access may be suspended.

6. Platform Continuity and Availability

Eli5a relies on third-party providers including OpenAI, Google Cloud, Squarespace, and others.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. You acknowledge that service interruptions, latency, or downtime may occur due to these dependencies.

Eli5a is not liable for:

  • Any loss of access, data, or functionality due to outages from third-party providers.

  • Any temporary or permanent unavailability of the platform.

Eli5a is operated as a going concern but does not guarantee long-term operation.
If we decide to discontinue the service, we will provide at least 30 days’ notice via email or on-site notification.

7. User Content and AI Interactions

Users may input text, prompts, or research material into the Platform.
By using the service, you grant Eli5a a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, and use that data for the sole purpose of operating and improving the service.

All outputs generated by the Platform are owned by Eli5a. You are granted a personal, non-transferable license to use the outputs for personal or professional purposes, provided you do not resell, redistribute, or represent them as independent products.

You are solely responsible for any content you submit and for ensuring it does not violate applicable laws or third-party rights.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, software, AI models, design elements, and branding of Eli5a are the exclusive property of the owner.
You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or reproduce any part of the Platform without written permission.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for illegal, fraudulent, or abusive purposes.

  • Upload or input content containing personal health data, private identifiers, or sensitive information.

  • Attempt to access systems or data without authorization.

  • Resell or share your access credentials.

Violation of these terms may result in suspension or permanent account termination.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Eli5a is not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

  • Any loss arising from the use or inability to use the Platform.

  • Disruptions caused by third-party providers, including but not limited to OpenAI, Google, Lovable CRM, Resend, Stripe, or Squarespace.

  • Errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content.

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Platform is to stop using it.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violations of these Terms, misuse of the service, or failure to pay.
You may terminate your account at any time through your user settings.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes will be handled in Swiss courts.

13. Modifications

We may revise these Terms periodically to reflect updates or new features. Continued use of Eli5a after revisions constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
